A lawsuit between Elon Musk’s X and nonprofit watchdog group Media Matters has a trial scheduled for April 2025, according to a court filing. The US District Court for the Northern District of Texas set the date. The lawsuit revolves around Media Matters’ research on antisemitic and pro-Nazi content on a social media platform. X accuses Media Matters of misrepresenting the likelihood of encountering hate speech on the platform. Media Matters’ president, Angelo Carusone, has called the suit frivolous and an attempt to silence critics. Motions for summary judgment are due in December, and a decision by the judge could settle the case before trial. Musk has faced setbacks in similar cases in the past.
